You Won't Believe It....

Last year on May 21, 2006, my mom purchased a picnic table from Lowe's for Matt, for his birthday. At the time we had a car full of kids and had no way to haul it. We told Lowe's we would be back later to pick it up.

On July 21, 2007 Matt and I finally made it back to Lowe's to pick up the picnic table!! LOL. I went in with the receipt that I had lost and found about three times over the past year and presented it to the customer service lady. Half embarrassed and half laughing at how ridiculous this must sound I explained that my mom purchased it and we never came to pick it up. She looked at the receipt, and on the top of it there was a "zone managers" writing on it. It said "Per Blake, not picked up yet" GET THIS.... the zone manage Blake that wrote on the receipt over a year ago, was up at the customer service desk. The girl laughed and called him over. He laughed and said "wow, yup that's my writing guess we will go get you your picnic table." We were shocked. What are the odd that the guy would still be working there let alone up at the front desk when I came in.

Props To My Hubby

Thanks to my cool graphic designer husband, my blog has a new face to it. He surprised me on Friday with this awesome design, made just for me. Last night he stayed up trying to figure out how to input it into my blog.

Kids Say The Darndest Things

Today while working out int he yard Jack started sweeping up the grass that was on the sidewalk and driveway. He did this without being asked, which aways makes parents proud. He swept up all the grass and after he was done he came over to me and said "my work here is done". SO CUTE. I gave him a big high five and told him he did a great job. Later we treated him to ice cream for a job well done.

Later in the day, I took Jack and Mallory into a public restroom to go potty. Jack wanted to open the door for us to the women's bathroom before he went to the boy's bathroom. He is being trained to be a gentleman...lol. So as we are walking in Mallory starts saying in her loud boisterous voice..."Attention there is a boy in the bathroom...there is a boy in the bathroom. We need to call the fireman!" Then after she was done going potty I sat down to go potty. I was wearing skirt and pulled it up to go potty(okay maybe TMI..but it has to do with the story). She said "Mimi you have a big skirt"...I said "yup" and then she announced "Mimi you have big boobies too!" LOL I'm sure everyone in the bathroom wanted to know that!

Leave it up to the kids to say those things to make you smile and humble your spirit.

Yard Work

The past two weekends we have actually been able to work out in the yard . It hasn't rained in three straight days!! Last weekend we attempted to mow the yard, but it was still too swampy in some areas. Today we were able to mow the lawn to a decent length and I trimmed the big bush in front of our house. We planted some flowers and pulled lots of weeds.

I planted flowers in the bed to the front door sidewalk and pulled the weeds...OH THE WEEDS....in the front yard area. My hamstrings hurt for a week along with my back from pulling those weeds all afternoon. My lower back hurt from bending over and my shoulders and upper back hurt from the royal sunburn I got!!! Oops. But it is all worth it when I stand back and look at it. When you drive up and walk into the house it looks so nice.

Look Ma...I Cleaned My Room

We were up until 1 am cleaning our room last night. We moved the "office" up stairs to the living room. Wow! It feels so good to have that desk and computer out of our room. Once we started moving the desk we just kept on going and didn't stop until it was clean.

For some reason our room is the collection room for all the odds and ends of the house and all the laundry. We tell our kids to keep their rooms clean and take pride in their things and we weren't setting a very good example.

Hopefully, that will all change now. We really want to keep our bedroom a place of calmness and not chaos. I am pretty sure this is the cleanest our room has been since we moved in!!!

The Place I Call Home

I was reading articles on the computer this morning and saw that there was a new list of the top 100 places to live in the United States. I like these Top Tens and countdown things so I gave it a glance. To my surprise!!! The city of Jenks, where Matt and I live was listed as number 43. I got all excited and proud....that's where I live...yup...I'm pretty cool....yeah!

Fast Car

One of my all time favorite songs is Fast Car by Tracy Chapman. I don't know what it is about that song but I love it. I never get sick of hearing it. It is a regular on my Ipod listening list.

Papa and Grammy's Cottage

Up North was great. The kids all had so much fun. It was so good to see the cousins playing together and having a good time getting reacquainted. It is almost surreal that I am the adult now. Looking back at all the activities the kids do and how much they swim in a day reminds me that I too, once, never stopped going when I was "up north". It is funny to me that now I am the one who has to say "time for bed" and hear the moans, groans, and cries for "just ten more minutes."
It is so hard to say good night to the lake. After a hard day of playing and being out in the sun, there is nothing more relaxing then getting warm by a bonfire, listening to the waves and the crackling of the fire and watching the moon reflect off the lake. Every night Matt and I would sit out on the dock and look up at the stars. Why are there SO many more stars up there than anywhere else? One night there were so many stars in this one area it was making the sky look almost clouded. One night we even got to see the moon rise. It was so big, bright and orange. We watched it come over the horizon just like a sun rise. It was so beautiful.

Anyway, enough of making the people who love up north and miss it jealous. Thank you mom and dad for taking the time to do stuff with us and to take such good care of us while we were there. The kids had so much fun and will cherish the memories they made "up north" forever.
