We read this book to the girls. It is a book about how every girl is a princess because we are children of the King.
Matt was putting Mallory to bed last night and said to her "Goodnight my little princess" She said "I don't want to be a little princess" Matt replied, "Aww, Mallory, you will always be my little princess and you will always be God's little princess" She said "Well I don't want to be a little princess. I want to be the Queen!"
I woke up to more birthday this morning. The kids all paraded into the bedroom at 7am with presents in hand ready to celebrate some more. I got a few new items for the kitchen, and a beautiful new ring. Dalton came up with the idea to go to James Avery and look at jewelry for me. Then everyone picked out new ring for me. I love it. It is so special because it is from them. They did a great job!
After presents we headed straight for the cake. The kids were so cute. They couldn't believe we were really going to let them eat cake for breakfast! It was a fun morning.
Happy Birthday to ME!!! Today was my birthday. My last year in the 20's. Next year I will be the big 30...Ahhhhh!
We went to Oklahoma City for a soccer tournament. We were out on the fields all day. On the way there, the kids gave me my birthday cards. Matt said they all insisted on picking out their own cards. They were so sweet, funny, and each one was very special. I even got one from the dog!!(Dalton picked that one out)
After the tournament we were invited by one of the families on the soccer team to go back to their hotel and swim. We made a quick stop at Super Target to get some super cheap, on sale bathing suits and headed to the pool. The kids all had a blast swimming after spending the day roasting in the sun.
Then we invited the family and one other family that was also there out to dinner with us. We ate at a place called Santa Fe. We had fun visiting while the kids also visited and played at the table.
We left Oklahoma City so late that we weren't able to open presents and eat cake. The kids had been looking forward to eating cake all day, so we told them we would eat cake for breakfast. Needless to say, they are SO pumped about getting to eat cake for breakfast. Overall it was a really fun birthday!
Rachel is finally feeling better today. Her fever broke about 2 o'clock this afternoon. We ended up taking her to urgent care last night upon the request of our pediatrician. They took more blood and ran more test, which also came up inconclusive. They were going to do more test today if her fever had not went down. There is a concern if a child runs a fever like that for seven days or longer. That's when they start doing the "in depth" testing. She must have known it was coming and got better real quick! They tell us she just got a really nasty virus. Hopefully, we are quickly on our way to a full recovery with a happy baby and full nights rests.
She is talking so much. The kids love to play the "Rachel say...." game. She is learning so many new words thanks to big brothers and sisters! One of our favorite things she does is the reaction she gives when you say to her " Rachel your feet stink!" No matter how many times you say it or when you say it her reaction is always the same... nooooo! I'm sure you have to hear it said to get the real affect and humor behind how cute it is to us.
Jack's one Kindergarten dream came true this morning. He got to ride the bus!!! He has been begging me since school started, every single day, asking why he can't ride the bus. Telling me he REALLY wants to ride the bus. Well, thanks to a sick sister and brother he got to ride the bus.
Rachel has been really sick this week. Running an extremely high fever for the past four days. Sometime reaching over 105 degrees. The doctor ran some tests and determined she just has a really nasty virus. Last night, Dalton woke up with the stomach bug and has been throwing up all morning. So I wasn't about to get him in the car to take Jack to school!
If you think of it say a little prayer for us. Pray for Rachel and Dalton. Pray for the other three kids not to get sick. Please pray for some rest and lots of patience for Matt and I.
Avery lost another tooth. Her third so far. This one was well past due to be lost..it was a hanger. She looks so cute and funny with her missing front tooth. She looks like a bruiser who got into a fght. Even cuter when she talks she has a little whistle.
Jack got to buy his lunch yesterday instead of having me pack it. So exciting for him! He got in the car after school and I asked him how his day was, what he did, etc.... the usual. I then asked him how his lunch was. He said "you know that broccoli that is covered in all white". I said "Cauliflower?". He said "Yes, that broccoli is disgusting!!! I only took one bite."
Getting the mail at our house is a fun thing to do. I ask the kids to go out and check the mail box and they love to find mail in there! Today I sent Mallory out and she came back in and said "the mail came!" She then held up a dried out, nasty, dead, worm and said "Look!". I said "Eww gross...where is the mail?" She said this is it. We got a worm in the mail. She thought she was soooo funny! She cracked herself up...and me too! What a goofball!
Rachel has started to say prayers with us. I love it. She usually has her eyes open and peeks around her hands to look at what everyone else is doing during the prayers. She smiles through the whole thing. She is growing up and approaching 2 fast.
Matt and I went out last night to celebrate our 6th Anniversary. We went out with our friends Parker and Beth who are still newlyweds. Their marriage is 3months, young.
We went out to dinner at Johnny Carrino's. Had lots of good conversation and laughter. From there we went to a comedy club called the "Loony Bin". It was great! We were in tears all night long and came out with sides aching.
I told Matt "six years of marriage and we ended up at the Loony Bin!"...lol
Jack started school today. He is officially a Kindergartner. He will be going to school full days, from 8:50 until 3:30.
He was so funny this morning. Not really showing too much excitement, but not scared either. He was totally playing it cool. Like this was no big deal.
His teacher is Ms. Kidd. She has been with the school for many years and is very sweet. Many of Jack's friends from his Pre-K class are also in his Kindergarten class which he was very excited about.

CHICKEN POX!! Jack and Mallory came down with the chicken pox. We have already been through two rounds of chicken pox this year, with Dalton and Rachel. What is the deal? Must be the year of the chicken?!
Both Jack and Mallory are doing good. Since they both had the vaccine for the chicken pox it was a pretty mild case. Mallory worse than Jack. She mostly had them on her face and feet. Jack had the most on his body and feet. They weren't too itchy and have been real troopers. I'm pretty sure the hardest part ( for everyone) was having to stay in the house for a few days.
Over the weekend while playing out in the back yard, my father-in-law discovered a caterpillar hanging from the tree by a thin string of silk. We all watched as this caterpillar was finishing up the amazing process of creating a cocoon for itself.
Unfortunately the dog came outside and ran past the tree and knocked it off. We did a quick search and found the cocoon on the ground and moved it to the kids' little picnic table umbrella. At first we placed the cocoon on top of it. We came back ten minutes later to discover the caterpillar sticking its head out the top of it and moving itself and the cocoon to the underside of the umbrella where he would be sheltered from the sun and rain. It has been there ever since. So we are keeping close watch on it so we don't miss out on the day it comes out.
Pretty amazing thing to see in your back yard. What a great way to teach the kids how amazing God's creations are.
Matt's parents were in town this past week for a visit. We had a good time. One of the things we did was visit the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. It was a very hands on museum, which the kids loved. They had flight simulators the kids could try. They got to sit in a plane and press all the buttons. They were able to launch a rocket ship in the control tower. We are looking forward to going back and visiting the Planetarium next time.
