Hail Storm

This is the second really bad hail storm we have had this storm season. When I took the video it was actually not as bad as it was 2 minutes prior. I was looking out the upstairs window into the cul-de-sac and at one point I could not see the houses across the street because it was blowing, raining and hailing so hard. We got the Acura into the garage literally ten seconds before the down pour. We figured since the Expedition has full coverage we would just leave it out. We haven't even gotten it fixed from the first hail storm. I'm sure we will have to get a new estimate!

Long Weekend

My mom and dad came into town for literally a day to pick up Jack and Mallory. It is amazing what grandparents will do?! They are grandkid crazy!!! We were going to meet in St. Louis and go to Six Flags and spend the night camping but due to car trouble--$800 to be exact--we had to cancel those plans. Instead my parents had to drive the entire way down here and we put my dad to work fixing our car. Aren't we kind! As you can see we did let him stop to eat a few meals. Kimmer and Ryan came over for picnic lunch on Saturday afternoon,so we had the whole family there for a wonderful afternoon.

On Saturday afternoon while the girls (me, mom, Kimmer, Avery and Mallory) and Ryan ran errands a big event happened in the Reiswig household--Probably because I wasn't home to stop it. Dalton and Jack got to go to the park in our neighborhood by themselves. Matt put Dalton's watch on him, told him what time they had to be back, gave them specific guidelines and sent them on their way. Yikes...our kids are getting big! The park is less than half a mile from our house, within our neighborhood. It was pretty cool to hear how excited they were to get to go alone and have that responsibility. They both handled it very well and even arrived home with 15 minutes to spare. I remember getting the privilege of going to the "motorcross" on the four wheelers up north and how cool and big I felt. I'm sure that is what they were feeling too.

On Sunday we celebrated Father's Day with my dad. We took him out to lunch and gave him a small Father's day celebration. He deserves so much more for all his hard work and selflessness. I'm so proud of my dad. He is an amazing hard working man and an awesome Papa! Our kids love him and I find true joy in watching him play with my children. He is so fun and will imagine, teach, play and let them do things I can't believe to him...like put him to sleep by covering his face, rubbing his head while singing to him!

Grammie and Papa left with Jack and Mallory in the early evening on Sunday. They are going to spend some time up north while momma gains some sanity! I will keep you updated on how that all goes. The kids, as always, were so excited that they didn't care they weren't going to be seeing us for awhile. We literally had to get Mallory out of the car to give everyone hugs and kisses goodbye.

Today, we slept in, did some errands, and then went to the pool. We spent most of the afternoon into the early evening at the pool. I love our pool and am looking forward to spending another summer there. We have made some good friends there and the kids absolutely LOVE the water. It was so nice that this year Rachel was old enough to "hold her own" in the kiddie pool. She splashed and played with other kids while Matt and I sat on the edge and watched her. All the while, still being able to hold a good adult conversation with our friends.

Is It Just Me...

....or is this some pretty awesome coloring for a two year old. This morning Rachel colored this picture . I was amazed that she was actually trying to color in the lines and did a pretty darn good job of it. Maybe I am just being the typical proud mom...but I thought it was good!

Avery is 8 Today!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AVERY!

We celebrated her birthday on Friday night. She chose to grill out hot dogs, have BBQ chips and applesauce for dinner. For dessert she chose birthday cupcakes instead of a traditional cake. Before our birthday dinner we gave her a birthday card from us and my parents. Her card said that she could go pick out a new bike. So we went birthday bike shopping. We had lots of fun! She got a totally, awesome, cool "Malibu Beach Cruiser".

We came home and had a picnic out in the back yard (but not before we tried out the new bike).Then Aunt Kimmer and Ryan came over to help eat cupcakes and ice cream. She opened the rest of her presents and we called it a night!

Happy Birthday

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATT!

Matt celebrated his 34th birthday on Tuesday. Dinner at Senor Tequilas was good,as usual, the cake and ice cream was good, the weather was good but all together it was a "different" kind of birthday.

I bought him a plane ticket back in February for his guys weekend retreat. He goes somewhere fun every year with a few of his close friends from high school . We found a great price in February so we decidedto buy the ticket for his birthday. Well, on Tuesday(his birthday) the airline called and said as of June 1st they are discontinuing all flights from Tulsa to Denver and that he would have to file a claim for a refund since his flight is in August. Oh, and the refund could take up to six weeks!

Then on the way to our yummy dinner we ran out of gas! It was SO my fault. I forgot to tell him we needed gas when we got in the car to leave.We were sitting at a stop light and the car started to chug. I knew exactly what was happening! About the time I started say "oh no we are running out of gas", the light turned green. So we both flung open our doors and started pushing. Luckily, we were going down hill. We started slowing down toward the end of the intersection and had to cross two turn lanes and two other lanes of traffic to get over to the gas station at the corner, in 5 o'clock rush hour traffic. It was amazing, like Moses and the Red Sea. Traffic just cleared and parted before our eyes. We got to the gas station driveway that was an incline and about killed ourselves pushing the car up the hill to the pump. The kids were in the car chanting, Go! Go! Go!..Go Daddy! Go Mimi! Go Daddy! Go Mimi!. We made it to the pump and I thought I was going to pass out realizing I really need to start working on some cardio!

But Matt is a good sport and despite the disappointments and struggles of the day he stayed positive and enjoyed his birthday!

Side note: All the kids made Matt birthday cards. Mallory is the only one who still needs me to write stuff in her card. So she asked me to write some things in his card. I always try to write exactly what the kids tell me because it is usually priceless and really funny. Well we all know Mallory's card would take the cake! This is what she had me write. "I hope you have a nice birthday" "Your a silly Daddy, you know" "I love you Daddy" " I hope you get ice cream on your face like when you were a baby" and "If you holler at me I will paint your phone" (???)

We send the kids to school all dressed up as their favorite CARTOON character on Monday morning. We are thinking this is great, we pulled it off. We threw a last minute thing together and it turned out "all right".

I pick the kids up from school on Monday and they tell me that it wasn't cartoon character day but HISTORICAL character day. HAHAHAHA. We sent the kids to school in cartoon costumes and they were supposed to be dressed up as some famous historical figure. Their teachers must have been thinking...Hmmm okay?

So they improvised. Avery took off her bow ties on her shoes and said she was Laura Ingalls and Dalton said he was Albert Einstein.

We did have a talk with Dalton about listening better in school to what his teachers say, since he was the one who informed us that they were supposed to go to school as their favorite cartoon character!

Make Momma Proud

The town we live in had it's annual city garage sale. So the girls and I went out around our neighborhood with wagon and bikes in tow on Saturday morning to see what treasures we might find. The very first place we stopped at I found this set of coffee pot, tea kettle and something else. I still have no idea what it's use is? I have been looking for trinket type things to put up above the cupboards in my kitchen and thought these would look great. I was only going to buy one of them but then decided to get all three. It was a bargain, I paid a whopping $6 for all three. When I got them home and started putting them up I noticed something in the bottom of the tea kettle. I pulled it out and it was a price tag form an antique store. It listed the item and Id# then the price. It was $49.50! And that was just for one piece of the set. It makes me wonder what the whole set is worth!!!

Any of you who know my mom, knows that she loves antiques and is an avid antiquer. So not only did I get a cute set of things for my cupboards but I also got a steal of a deal, and it was my first purchase of an antique and I think I did my momma proud.

Spirit Week

This week is spirit week at school for Dalton and Avery. Today was the first day, and they had to go to school dressed up like their favorite cartoon character. Since we remembered the project at 6:30 last night we threw together something before bedtime last night that would make due. Not necessarily their favorite characters but it was what we had available! They are the brother and sister duo of Dexter and Dee-dee from the cartoon Dexter's Labratory.

Dalton is wearing a lab-coat(Matt's huge white shirt) And has on black pants that are also Matt's! They are all safety pinned so they would be short enough and small enough around the waist...lol. He is wearing my "fashion glasses". Avery has ribbons around her legs like Dee-dee wears but Avery's are being held up by band-aids.

Turned out pretty cute for a quick throw together job!

Pink

I have been working with Rachel on her colors for the past week or so. Pointing out colors of things, going through books that are about colors, asking her what color things are etc.... PINK! That is her answer for every color. Doesn't matter if I just went over a color with her saying, "this is green". I will turn the page (pointing to something green) and ask, "What color is this Rachel?" "Pink!" It's pretty funny. I guess pink is the only color that matters or exists to her at this point.
